SAINT FERTILITY

Project overview

The project is based on my self-experience of medical intervention and mental perceptions during the Egg Freezing procedure. The process is documented by video and archived all medical information, that I've according to genetic, blood, and other tests made before the intervention.

The project is based on my self-experience of medical intervention and mental perceptions during the Egg Freezing procedure. The process is documented by video and archived all medical information, that I've according to genetic, blood, and other tests made before the intervention.

As a 36 years old woman I've experienced the concept of the biological clock. I decided to freeze my eggs, in case I will want to have a child in the future. The process is repressive, as the physical or mental aspect too. I felt heavy despair, thinking of women, who passes those procedures many times, to become a mother. This feels despair and hopelessness in parallel with the physical and hormonal transformation of the body. In addition, the procedure is expensive and includes medical preparation of self-injections into the abdomen for 10 days, testing blood, and vaginal ultrasonography every 3 days. When the eggs are mature, the patient head for a gynecological procedure under anesthesia and may go home after a few hours.
At the end of this process, I understand what a woman is ready to come through for being able to fertile or secure herself with the saved eggs.

IVF - In vitro fertilization

In vitro fertilization is a process of fertilization where an egg is combined with sperm in vitro. The process involves monitoring and stimulating a woman's ovulatory process, removing an ovum or ova from their ovaries, and letting sperm fertilize them in a culture medium in a laboratory.

Egg freezing, or oocyte cryopreservation, is a process in which a woman's eggs (oocytes) are extracted, frozen, and stored as a method to preserve reproductive potential in women of reproductive age.
