Gospel from Me is a series of "theological" photo collages that reinterpret classical Christian iconography through a critical, feminist lens. Drawing inspiration from traditional depictions of saints—particularly the image of Saint Mary—the series interrogates contemporary constructs of gender, power, and societal expectation.
The figure of Mary, long idealized as the ultimate symbol of purity, motherhood, and self-sacrifice, becomes a vessel for examining the cultural pressures placed on women to conform. In these works, I reimagine her as an “ideal saintly sexual woman,” shaped not by faith but by the modern patriarchal gaze. By fusing sacred Christian symbols with objects and aesthetics from contemporary daily life, I expose the absurdity and persistence of archaic ideals that continue to define and confine women today.
